動詞hesitate用法說明

一、基本用法

1. 猶豫，躊躇：

She hesitated for a moment. 她猶豫了一會兒。

She hesitated on account of the expense. 她對費用有些猶豫。

2. 不情愿：

I hesitate to disagree with you. 我不愿意和你意見相左。

I hesitate to spend so much money on clothes. 我可不大愿意花這么多錢買衣裳。

二、口語用法

在口語中用于 Don’t hesitate to do sth，主要用于鼓勵某人，意思是“做某事不要猶豫”。如：

Don’t hesitate to tell us if you have a problem. 你有問題就直截了當地告訴我們。

If you ever need anything, please don’t hesitate to contact me. 你若需要什么東西，請直接與我聯系。

三、用法說明

1. 后接另一動詞時，要用不定式，不用動名詞。由于不及物，故其后接的不定式為狀語，而非賓語。

2. 雖不能直接跟動名詞，但后可跟“介詞+動名詞”。如：

He hesitated to tell her.

= He hesitated about telling her.

該不該告訴她，他有些猶豫。

3. 后接“介詞+從句”時，有時可省略介詞。如：

He hesitated (about) what he should do next. 他猶豫著下一步怎么辦。

4. hesitate about doing sth 與hesitate in doing sth：前者用介詞 about，表示“關于”，hesitate about doing sth 的意思是“關于做某事而猶豫”；后者用介詞 in，表示“在……方面”，hesitate in doing sth 的意思是“在做某事方面猶豫”。但事實上，兩值得在使用時有時區別很小，常可混用（但以用about為普通）。如：

No-one need hesitate about / in going to the countryside for the weekend.
