兩個常考虛擬語氣句型

一、句型介紹

這兩個句型是If it weren’t for…和If it hadn’t been for…，這是兩個很常用的虛擬語氣句型，也經常受到命題人的青睞，其意為“若不是(有)”“要不是有”。如：

If it weren’t for water, no plant could grow. 要是沒有水植物就無法生長。

You wouldn’t be anywhere if it weren’t for Ruth. 若不是有魯思你不會有任何成就。

If it hadn’t been for the doctor, he would have died. 要不是醫生救了他，他就會死了。

If it hadn’t been for Mary, I might not have understood. 要不是有瑪麗，我可能還不理解。

二、與but for, without等替換

這兩個句型有時可用but for, without等替換。如：

要不是有你幫忙，我們是不會成功的。

If it hadn’t been for your assistance we wouldn’t have succeeded.

=But for your assistance we wouldn’t have succeeded.

=Without your assistance we wouldn’t have succeeded.

三、時間上的同與異

原則上說，if it weren’t [wasn’t] for 用于談論現在的情況，而if it hadn’t been for 用于談論過去的情況。但實際上if it weren’t [wasn’t] for有時也可用于談論過去的情況：

If it weren’t for their help, we couldn’t have got over the difficulties. 要不是他們幫助，這些困難我們是克服不了的。
