■一般現在時的基本用法

一般現在時主要表示經常性或習慣性的動作、說話時某人或某物的特征或狀態(tài)，以及客觀真理。常與always, usually, often, sometimes, seldom, every day等時間狀語連用。如：

I often work at night. 我經常在夜間工作。

Liquid turns into gas when it is hot enough. 足夠熱時，液體變?yōu)闅怏w。

However cold it is, she always goes swimming. 不管天多冷，她總是去游泳。

■一般現在時的特殊用法

當時間、條件、方式及讓步狀語從句中的謂語動詞表示將來的動作或狀態(tài)時，習慣上要用一般現在時表示。如：

If you come, we will wait for you. 如果你來，我們就等你。

When he gets here, the work will be finished. 當他到這兒時，工作將做完了。

Though he disagrees with us, he will do as we decided. 盡管他不贊成我們當觀點，他還是會按我們的決定去做。

另外，在make sure(弄清楚)，make certain(弄清楚)，take care(注意，當心)，be careful(注意，當心)，mind(注意)，watch(注意)等后的that從句中通常也只用一般現在時表示將來意義。如：

Make sure you come back soon. 你要保證快點回來。

We must take care that no one sees us. 我們必須注意別讓人看見我們。

Be careful that you don’t hurt her feelings. 當心別傷了她的感情。

Watch that the baby doesn’t go near the heater. 注意別讓寶寶接近加熱器。

Mind you read the examination questions carefully before you begin to answer them. 在答題前要注意仔細閱讀考題。

還有，在it doesn’t matter, I don’t care, I don’t mind 等結構(以及類似結構)后的名詞性從句也通常用一般現在時表示將來意義。如：

It doesn’t matter where we go on holiday. 我們去哪兒度假都行。

I don’t care whether we win or lose. 我不在乎我們是贏還是輸。
