一、afoot的用法

在準備中；在進行中(being prepared or progressing)

(1) 作表語。例如：Across the Taiwan Strait a second set of historically profound changes is afoot. 海峽對面的中國大陸正在發生著第二輪影響深刻的巨變。

(2) 作后置定語。例如：

If there is any mischief afoot, he is sure to be in at it. 要有什么調皮搗蛋的事，肯定有他的份。

There is a plan afoot to pull down the old building so as to widen the street.現正計劃拆除這幢舊大樓以拓寬馬路。

(3) 作賓語補足語。例如：

I set a project afoot. 我開始執行計劃。

二、afoot的搭配

(1) be well afoot 在順利進行中。例如：

The work is well afoot. 工作在順利進行中。

(2) get afoot 開始, 實施。例如：

Preparation for dinner is getting afoot in the kitchen. 廚房正在準備飯菜。

(3) set afoot 著手，使……開始執行。例如：

His nature will be changed by the changes he has already set afoot. 他的本性將隨著他已經開始的變化而變化。
