由“名詞(代詞)+副詞”構成的獨立主格

英語中的獨立主格可以由“名詞或代詞+形容詞、副詞、分詞不、不定式等”構成，其中的“名詞或代詞”用主格形式，起邏輯主語的作用，其后的“形容詞、副詞、分詞不、不定式等”起邏輯謂語的作用。注意，獨立主格結構與主句之間不能使用任何連接詞。本文主要介紹“名詞或代詞+副詞”的用法。

在“名詞或代詞+副詞”這類獨立主格結構中，其中的副詞主要是over, on, off, up, down等這類小品詞，一般不用-ly這類方式副詞。如：

The meeting over, our headmaster soon left the meeting room. 散會了，校長很快就離開了會議室。

The lights off, we could not go on with the work. 燈熄了，我們不能繼續工作了。

She sat at the table, collar off, head down, and pen in position, ready to begin the long letter. 她坐在桌前，衣領已解掉，頭低了下來，拿好鋼筆，準備開始寫一封長信。
