一、astir的用法

1.【文】起床的 (awake and out of bed)

作表語。例如：

He's never astir before 10 o'clock.他從不在10點(diǎn)鐘以前起床。

2. 激動地；轟動的；騷動的( excited about sth or in an excited state)

(1) 作表語。例如：

The whole village was astir as the visitors arrived. 客人來到時，全村為之轟動。

The whole town was astir with the news. 消息傳來，全城轟動。

(2) 作賓語補(bǔ)足語。例如：

News of the Queen's visit set the whole town astir. 女王到訪的消息轟動全城。

(3) 作后置定語。例如：

The night was quiet, and there was no sound of anything astir. 夜很靜,一點(diǎn)響動也沒有。

二、astir的搭配

astir with / at。例如：

The whole town was astir with / at the news. 消息傳來，全城轟動。

【注】astir不可以用very修飾。楊發(fā)河著《英語形容詞句型指南》(江西高校出版社1992年12月第1版)p28上說：astir可以用very much/much修飾，而實際上，在BUY-BNC BRTISH NATIONAL CORPUS (UK,1980s-1993) (Mark Davies, Brigham Young University ) http://corpus.byu.edu/bnc/和BUY CORPUS OF AMERICAN ENGLISH (1990-2009) (Mark Davies, Brigham Young University) http://www.americancorpus.org/ 上無有一例包含very much/much astir的例證，由此看來，英美人是不用very much / much 來修飾 astir 的(www.hz123456.com)。
