surprising 作定語與 surprise 作定語有何區(qū)別

一、surprising 作定語

surprising 作定語時，意思是“令人吃驚的”“驚人的”，強(qiáng)調(diào)讓人吃驚。如：

He reacted with surprising speed. 他以驚人的速度作出了反應(yīng)。

That child shows a surprising understanding of adult behaviour. 那個孩子對成年人行為表現(xiàn)出驚人的理解。

I heard a gasp from the crowd when the speaker made the surprising announcement. 我聽到發(fā)言人宣布這條令人吃驚的消息時，人群倒吸了一口氣。

二、surprise 作定語

surprise 作定語時，意思是“突然的”“令人意外的”，強(qiáng)調(diào)讓人意想不到。如：

The office gave the boss a surprise party. 辦公室職員們?yōu)槔习灏才帕艘淮误@喜聚會。

Then the prosecution wheeled in a surprise witness. 然后原告請出了一位意想不到的目擊證人。

Naomi paid a surprise visit to her old school in London. 娜奧米實(shí)然訪問了她在倫敦的母校。

My friend remembered my birthday by giving me a surprise party. 為慶祝生日，我朋友為我舉辦了意想不到的生日晚會。

Little did the class realize the teacher planned a surprise test. 全班同學(xué)絲毫沒有意識到老師安排了一場突襲測試。
