注意這類題中的定語從句

請看下面這道題，千萬不要選 B！為什么？

【分析】此題容易誤選B或C，有的同學可能認為B或C兩者必選其一，因為其中的 to 要么是不定式符號，此時其后接動詞用原形，要么就是介詞，此時后接動詞用動名詞。其實，正確答案應是D。不錯，pay a visit to 中的 to 是介詞，但是在此句中 to 的賓語不是其后的動詞，而是引導 we paid a visit to 這個定語從句的關系代詞 that (在原句被省略)，也就是說選項D中介詞 to 后的動詞 stands 并不是 to 的賓語，而是主句的謂語，句意為“我們參觀的那家農舍在小山頂上”。又如：

(1) The good news we were looking forward _________ in the end.

A. arriving                        B. to arrive                       C. to arriving                       D. to arrived

答案為D，不能選B或C。句中 we were looking forward to 是修飾名詞 the good news 的定語從句，介詞 to 后的動詞 arrived 是句子的謂語，句意為“我們盼望的好消息終于到了”。
