插入語的概念與用法

所謂插入語，就是指插在句子中間，對句子起補充或附加的說明的成分。一般說來，插入語與句中其他部分沒有語法上的聯系，若將其去掉，句子結構仍然完整。插入語在句中主要起解釋、說明、總結等作用，此外還可用于表示說話者的態度和看法、起強調作用、引起別方的注意、轉移話題、承上啟下等。

一、形容詞（短語）作插入語

Sure enough, she was there. 果然她在那里。

Strange to say, he is still ignorant of it. 說也奇怪，他還不知道這件事。

Most important of all, these activities have strengthened their ties with the working people. 最重要的是，這些活動加強了他們和勞動人民的聯系。

二、副詞（短語）作插入語

I’m seeing him in May一or rather early June. 我5月份見他——更確切地說是在6月初。

We must be back before midnight；otherwise we’ll be locked out. 我們必須在午夜之前趕回去，否則我們就會被鎖在門外。

三、介詞短語作插入語

He doesn’t mind. In fact, he is very pleased. 他不介意，實際上他很高興。

By the way, do you know where Mary lives? 順便問一下，你知道瑪麗住在哪里嗎？

The boy is not foolish. On the contrary, I think he is very clever. 這孩子不愚蠢，相反我認為他很聰明。

A lot of us want to leave now—Bill, for example [=for example, Bill]. 我們很多人現在都想走——比如，比爾就是一例。

四、v-ing分詞（短語）作插入語

Generally speaking children like to watch television. 一般說來，小孩子喜歡看電視。

Judging from [by] his accent, he may be from the south. 聽他的口音，他可能是南方人。

五、不定式短語作插入語

To begin with, I do not like its colour. 首先，我不喜歡它的顏色。

To tell the truth, the film was a great disappointment to me. 說實在的，那部影片使我大為失望。

To make a long story short, we agreed to disagree. 長話短說，我們同意各自保留不同的看法。

六、句子（陳述句和一般疑問句等）作插入語

Believe it or not, they got married soon. 信不信由你，他們不久就結婚了。

He learns easily, and what’s more, he remembers what he has learnt. 他學習起來很容易，而且他所學習過的都記得住。

He didn’t go, that’s to say, it’s not recorded that he did. 他沒去，換句話說，他去了這個事實無案可查。
