The match was played in spite of the awful weather. 盡管天氣惡劣，比賽仍然進行。

In spite of all her hard work, she failed her exam. 她雖然很努力，可是考試不及格。

in support of 支持，支援

Steve spoke in support of the proposal. 史蒂夫發言支持那個計劃。

Will you speak in support of this plan? 你能不能發個言支持這一計劃？

in terms of 用……的字眼，從……的觀點

He referred to your work in terms of high praise. 他對你的工作大加贊揚。

It is difficult to express it in terms of science. 要用科學的字眼來表達它是很困難的。

Let each child read in terms of his own tastes and choices. 讓每個孩子閱讀根據自己的興趣愛好選擇的書籍。 

in time of 在……期間，在……時候

【注】有時也說in times of。如：

We came in view of the lake as we turned the corner. 我們轉過彎就看見那個湖了。

In view of the weather, we will cancel the outing. 因天氣關系，我們要取消此次郊游。

in want of 缺少，需要

Are you in want of money? 你需要錢嗎？

He is in want of exercise. 他需要運動。
