短語介詞與介詞短語的區別

1. 短語介詞是指由短語構成的介詞，如according to, because of, in spite of, on behalf of, with reference to等。如：

He walked slowly because of his bad leg. 他因腿不方便而走得很慢。

According to the timetable, the train gets in at 8:27 根據時刻表，火車8:27進站。

The legal guardian must act on behalf of the child. 法定監護人應該維護這個孩子的利益。

In spite of these insults, she managed not to get angry. 她盡管受到這些侮辱，還是忍著沒發火。

2. 介詞短語是指由介詞后接賓語構成的短語，如in the room, at the station, on the desk, under the tree等。如：

They came out from under the trees. 他們從樹下走出來。

We heard a strange sound in the room. 我們聽到屋里有一種奇怪的聲音。

An official at the station said the train would arrive late. 火車站的一位官員說這列火車將晚點到達。

簡單地說，短語介詞仍是介詞，而介詞短語屬于“介詞+賓語”，如because of是短語介詞，但because of his illness則屬于介詞短語。
