請別誤用了這些假分詞

有這樣一道題：

_____ their inexperience, they’ve done a good job.

A. Given         B. To give      C. Giving      D. Give

此題答案為A，但許多同學不知道這是什么原因。其實，given 在此用作介詞，意為“考慮到”。又如：

Given the low price, I decided to buy it. 考慮到價格很低，我決定把它買下。

在英語中，有些詞語形式上像是分詞（現在分詞或過去分詞），但其實際上可能已轉化成其他詞類，所以在做題時要注意根據句意仔細分辨，千萬不要被這些假分詞給蒙了眼。

一、形式上像分詞，實際上是連詞

1. 引導條件狀語從句，其意相當于“假如”“如果”等，這類用作連詞的“假分詞”有supposing, assuming, providing, provided等。如：

Supposing she doesn’t come, what shall we do? 假設她不來，我們該怎么辦?

Assuming it rains tomorrow, what shall I do? 如果明天下雨的話，我該怎么辦?

I will stay here provided [providing] the climate agrees with me. 如果這里的氣候合適的話，我就待下來。

2. 引導讓步狀語從句，其意相當于“即使”，這類用作連詞的“假分詞”有granted, admitting等。如：

Granted this is true, you are still in the wrong. 這話即使真實，你仍然是錯的。

Admitting that he is naturally clever, we do not think he will make much improvement, as he pays no attention to his lessons. 他即使天資聰穎，我們也不認為他會有多大長進，因為他對功課不上心。

3. 引導原因狀語從句，其意相當于“因為”“既然”等，這類用作連詞的“假分詞”有seeing等。如：

Seeing that you are here, you may as well give me a hand. 既然你在這兒，你就幫我個忙吧。(G14)

二、形式上像分詞，實際上是介詞

這類詞主要有according to(根據，按照)，concerning(關于)，considering(考慮到)，excepting(除……外)，following(接著)，given(如果有，考慮到)，including(包括)，owing to(由于)，regarding(關于)。如：

But things do not go according to plan. 但事情并未按計劃進行。

I spoke to him concerning his behavior. 我和他談了他的行為。

Considering his age, the little boy reads very well. 就他的年齡來說，這小孩讀得算挺好的。

There was nothing in the street excepting two dogs. 除了兩條狗街上什么都沒有。

Following the roar, out rushed a tiger from among the bushes. 一聲吼叫，呼地從叢林中沖出一只老虎。

Given good health, I hope to finish the work this year. 如果身體情況好，我希望在今年完成這項工作。

Owing to the bad weather, the match was cancelled. 由于天氣不好，比賽取消了。

Everybody here has the influenza including myself. 包括我在內所有人都患上流感。

I wrote a letter regarding my daughter's school examinations. 我寫了一封關于我女兒學�？荚嚨男�。
