art 與 arts 的用法區(qū)別

1. art 表示“藝術(shù)”“美術(shù)”等，有時(shí)可數(shù)，有時(shí)不可數(shù)，注意以下用法：

(1) 原指繪畫、雕塑、雕刻等傳統(tǒng)藝術(shù)，但現(xiàn)在也有人用它指電視、電影等現(xiàn)代藝術(shù)，為不可數(shù)名詞。如：

Do you like modern art? 你喜歡現(xiàn)代藝術(shù)嗎?

Can we call television art? 我們能把電視稱作藝術(shù)嗎？

(2) 表示“藝術(shù)作品”“美術(shù)作品”，也不可數(shù)。如：

Are these films art or entertainment? 這些電影是藝術(shù)片還是娛樂片?

若指一件或幾件藝術(shù)作品，通常借助單位詞work。如：

This tapestry is a work of art. 這張掛毯是件藝術(shù)品。

(3) 表示“美術(shù)活動(dòng)”“藝術(shù)活動(dòng)”，也不可數(shù)。如：

She devotes her spare time to her art. 她把業(yè)余時(shí)間都用在美術(shù)上。

(4) 表示藝術(shù)的門類，可用作可數(shù)名詞。如：

Drama is an art that is traditionally performed in a theatre. 戲劇是一門傳統(tǒng)上在劇院表演的藝術(shù)。

(5) 統(tǒng)指包括美術(shù)、音樂、電影、戲劇、舞蹈等在內(nèi)的“藝術(shù)”，通常用復(fù)數(shù)形式，且要連用定冠詞。如：

She is a patron of the arts and gives money to support the symphony. 她支持藝術(shù)事業(yè)并出資贊助這個(gè)交響樂團(tuán)。

2. art 表示包括歷史、文學(xué)、語言等非自然科學(xué)學(xué)科的“文科”“人文科學(xué)”，或泛指包括音樂、繪畫、文學(xué)、電影、舞蹈等的“藝術(shù)”“文藝”，通常要用復(fù)數(shù)形式。如：

She’s a Master of Arts. 她有文學(xué)碩士學(xué)位。

History is one of the arts. 歷史是一門人文學(xué)科。

Should the new department form part of the Faculty of Arts? 這個(gè)新的系屬文學(xué)院?jiǎn)?/FONT>?
