習慣上后接to doing sth的名詞

根據英語的搭配習慣，有些名詞通常要后接to doing sth，而不接to do sth，因為其中的to是介詞，而不是不定式符號。這類名詞比較常用的有：

1. alternative 選擇，可供選擇的辦法，替換

用于alternative to doing sth，其意為“代替……的選擇”。如：

Unfortunately, there’s no practical alternative to driving. 遺憾的是，除了開車沒有其他可行的方案。

Amalgamation was the only alternative to going bankrupt. 要想不破產，唯一的選擇就是聯合起來。

說明：have no alternative to doing sth與have no alternative but to do sth大致同義，均表示“除了做某事外沒有其他的辦法”，但前一結構中的to是介詞，后接動詞要用動名詞，后一結構中的to為不定式符號。如：

He had no alternative to staying at home.= He had no alternative but to stay at home. 他沒有別的辦法，只好呆在家里。

另外，the alternative之后有時也接of doing sth，但此時不是表示“選擇……代替……”而是表示同位關系。如：

We took the alternative of keeping quiet. 我們選擇了保持沉默。

You have the alternative of marrying or remaining a bachelor. 你可以結婚也可以仍做單身漢，任你選擇。

2. aversion 討厭，憎惡

用于aversion to doing sth，表示“討厭做某事”。如：

He had an aversion to getting up early. 他十分討厭早起。

I have an aversion to traveling during the heat of August. 我討厭在8月份的熱浪中出去旅行。

She has an aversion to eating cow liver; it makes her ill. 她對牛肝很反感，這使她惡心。

3. dedication 專心致力，獻身

用于one’s dedication to doing sth，表示“專心于做某事”。如：

His dedication to teaching gained the respect of his colleagues. 他專心致力于教學的精神贏得了同事們的尊敬。

偶爾也接不定式，尤其是用于have the dedication to do sth。如：

They had the dedication to continue their research in spite of the obstacles. 盡管有困難，但他們仍以獻身精神繼續進行研究。

4. dislike不喜愛，厭惡

Most of my friends feel a dislike to gambling. 我的大部分朋友都厭惡賭博。

I have a strong dislike to wearing such clothes in public. 我非常不喜歡在公共場合穿那樣的衣服。

5. hindrance 妨礙

用于a hindrance to doing sth，表示對于做某事是一個妨礙。如：

Noise is a hindrance to studying. 噪音妨礙學習。

Poor health is a hindrance to finding a job. 身體不好對于找工作是一個妨礙。

6. key 答案，秘訣，關鍵

用于the key to doing sth，表示“做某事的關鍵”。如(www.hz123456.com)：

The humble potato may be the key to feeding the world’s population. 這不起眼的土豆有可能是解決全世界人口溫飽的關鍵。

但是，若用于具體義表示“鑰匙”，則可用a key to do sth。如：

Have you got a key to open this door? 你有開這扇門的鑰匙嗎?

注意，即使是表示“鑰匙”，若是用于引申義，也是用the key to doing sth。如：

A chemical has been discovered that may be the key to unlocking the mysteries of Parkinson’s disease. 已經發現一種化學物質，可能是揭開帕金森氏病奧秘的鑰匙。
