“動(dòng)詞+at”類常用搭配 aim (…) at 瞄準(zhǔn),針對: He aimed (his gun) at the target, fired and missed it. 他(用槍)瞄準(zhǔn)目標(biāo)開火,卻未打中。 When the teacher said that there was a lazy boy in the class, e was aiming at John. 當(dāng)老師說班上有個(gè)不用功的孩子時(shí),他是針對約翰說的。 arrive at 到達(dá)(較小地方),達(dá)成(協(xié)議、結(jié)論等) Soon we arrived at the station. 我們很快就到了車站。 It took a long time to arrive at a conclusion. 花了很長時(shí)間才達(dá)成一個(gè)結(jié)論。 call at 拜訪(某人的家或某個(gè)地方) I called at Mr James’ this afternoon. 今天下午我到詹姆斯先生家去拜訪了他。 Does the steamer call at drive at 意指;想說;打算 What on earth are you driving at? 你究竟是什么意思? I’m surprised that he could guess at my age correctly. 我很驚訝他可以正確猜出我的年齡。 【注】這樣用時(shí),其中的介詞at通常也可以省略。 knock at / on 敲(門、窗等) Someone is knocking at the window. 有人在敲窗。 【注】有時(shí)用于引申義。如: New graduates from high schools and colleges start knocking on employers’ doors. 剛從大中學(xué)校畢業(yè)的學(xué)生開始尋找就業(yè)門路。 laugh at 嘲笑,覺得……滑稽而笑起來 The children laughed at the clown. 小丑把孩子們逗得咯咯笑。 Don’t laugh at him. He can’t help the way he speaks. 別笑他,他實(shí)在改不掉那樣的說話方式。 look at 檢查;考慮;觀察,看待 Your ankle is badly swollen; I think the doctor ought to look at it. 你的腳腕子腫得很厲害,我想得請醫(yī)生看看了。 The committee wouldn’t even look at my proposal. 委員會(huì)對我的提議甚至不予考慮。 The Americans look at life differently from the British. 美國人對生活的看法,與英國人不同。
