4. deep與deeply的區別

兩者均可表示“深”、“深深地”，修飾具體的動作, 有時可互換：

The doctor asked me to breathe deep [deeply]. 醫生叫我做深呼吸。

修飾靜止狀態、介詞短語或表示深夜等，通常用deep(偶爾也用deeply)：

He sat there deep in thought. 他坐在那兒深思。

The meeting continued deep into the night.  會議一直開到深夜。

Karen and Dave are deeply in love with each other.  凱倫與戴夫倆人深深地相愛著。

修飾帶有感情色彩的動詞(如 hate, dislike, love, admire, hurt, regret 等)，通常要用 deeply，另外，修飾形容詞、過去分詞等，一般也要用 deeply：

He deeply hates fish. 他很不喜歡吃魚。

We deeply regret your misfortune. 我們對你的不幸深表遺憾。

I am deeply grateful to you. 我衷心感謝你。

He was deeply moved by [at] the story. 聽了這個故事，他深受感動。

5. direct 與directly的區別

兩者均可表示“徑直地”、“直接地”，但direct 通常只位于動詞之后，而 directly 則可位于動詞之前或之后：

We flew direct [directly] to Paris. 我們直飛巴黎。

You’d better write direct [directly] to her.  你最好直接給她寫信。

His speech directly affected the strike.  他的演講直接影響了罷工。

6. easy與easily的區別

easy用作副詞通常只用于某些特定的表達中：

Take it [things] easy. 別著急(慢慢來)。

Easy come, easy go. 來得容易去得快。

Easier said than done. 說來容易做來難。

而easily 的用法則很廣，除表示“容易地”、“輕而易舉地”外， 還可表示“無疑地”、“可能地”，可用于動詞之前或之后：

I can easily finish the work. 我可以毫不費力地完成這工作。

She is easily the cleverest girl in the class.  她無疑是這個班最聰明的女孩。

7. firm 與firmly的區別

firm 用作副詞的用法十分有限，通常只能與 stand, hold, stay 等少數動詞連用，且位于動詞之后；而firmly 的用法則十分廣泛，且可位于動詞之前或之后：

Always hold firm to your beliefs. 一定要堅守信仰。

They stood firm against the war. 他們堅決反對戰爭。

I firmly believe that it is true. 我堅信那是真的。

The fence posts were fixed firmly in the ground. 柵欄的立柱牢牢地固定在地上。

注：hold firmly 通常用于本義，指緊緊握住；而 hold firm 則通常用于引申義，指堅持原則、理想、信仰等。

8. free 與freely的區別

free用作副詞意為“免費地”、“松動地”，總是位于動詞之后；freely的意思很多，可以表示“自由地”、“隨便地”、“無限制地”；“心甘情愿地”；“慷慨地”等，可位于動詞之前或之后：

Children are admitted free. 兒童免費入場。

You may speak freely. 你可以直言。

I freely admit that I made a mistake. 我心甘情愿承認我弄錯了。

9. high與highly的區別

兩者均可表示“高”，但high通常表示具體的高，且主要修飾動詞；highly 主要表示很高的程度(意為“高度地”、“非常地”)，除修飾動詞(如 speak, praise, think of等)外，還通常用于修飾分詞或形容詞(尤其是那些由動詞派生而來的形容詞, 有時相當于 very much)：

He climbed high. 他爬得很高。

He speaks very highly of you. 他十分贊賞你。

His report is highly scientific. 他的報告是很科學的。

She is a highly educated woman. 她是受過很高教育的女人。

注：在用連字符構成的復合形容詞中，通常要用 high：high-priced 高價的
