(4) stop 后接動名詞表示停止做某事,接不定式表示停下正在做的事去做另一事: He stopped speaking, and there was not a sound in the room. 他停止講話,房里一點聲音也沒有了。 He stopped to listen, but there was no more sound. 他停下來聽,但再也沒有聽到什么聲音。 注:后接不定式時,不定式不是賓語,而是目的狀語。 (5) can’t help后接動名詞表示禁不住去做某事,接不定式表示不能幫助做某事: He couldn’t help crying when he heard the news. 他聽到這個消息時禁不住哭了。 The medicine can’t help to get rid of your cold. 這藥不能幫你治好感冒。 (6) go on 后接不定式表示做完某事后接著做另一事,接動名詞表示繼續做正在做的事: You oughtn’t to go on living this way. 你不應該再這樣生活下去了。 Go on to do the other exercises after you have finished this one. 做完這個練習后, 請接著做其他的練習。 注:也人認為go on doing sth中的doing是現在分詞而不是動名詞。 3. 三個表“需要”的動詞 在 need, want, require這三個表示“需要”的動詞后,接不定式和動名詞均可,且含義也相同,但是語態不同:接動名詞時用主動式表示被動含義,接不定式時則要用被動式表示被動含義: My coat needs mending [to be cleaned]. 我的外套需要縫補一下。 Your coat wants brushing [to be brushed]. 你的大衣需要刷一刷。 六、動名詞的邏輯主語 1. 基本原則 動名詞的邏輯主語原則上是在動名詞前用物主代詞或名詞所有格: His coming late made the teacher angry. 他遲到使老師生氣了。 Would you mind my opening the door? 勞駕你打開窗戶好嗎? Please excuse my interrupting you. 請原諒我打斷你的話。 2. 幾個注意點 (1) 口語中通常用賓格代詞或名詞普通格用于動名詞作邏輯主語: We’re all looking forward to your [you] coming. 我們都盼望你來。 Can you imagine Peter [Peter’s] saying such a thing? 你能想像他說出這樣的話嗎? (2) 當位于句首時,通常要用名詞所有格或物主代詞作動名詞的邏輯主語: Mary’s going there is of no help. 瑪麗去那兒沒什么幫助。 注:即使用于句首的作主語的動名詞移至句末而在句首使用形式主語it,其邏輯主語也通常用物主代詞: It’s a waste of time your talking to him. 你和他談是浪費時間。 It’s doesn’t make much difference my being there. 我在不在那兒沒有什么影響。 (3) 當動名詞的邏輯主語是沒有生命的東西時,通常不用物主代詞或名詞所有格: I look forward to it getting warmer in spring. 我盼望春天天氣變暖。 七、重點考點原創精練 1.
