綜上所述，可以看出無論在英國英語中，還是在美國英語中,a debt of gratitude通常用作動詞owe的賓語，其后常接介詞to，再接指人的名詞作介賓，即owe a debt of gratitude to sb.基本上成了一個固定搭配。　　

當然，a debt of gratitude偶爾也用作其它動詞如feel 和acknowledge等的賓語，這點從“張柏然主編《新時代英漢大詞典》(商務印書館 2004年4月第1版)p556:  feel a special debt of gratitude to sb   對某人特別感恩戴德 ” 和“(日) 市川繁治郎主編《英語搭配大辭典》(外語教學與研究出版社2006年10月第1版)p451: acknowledge a special debt of gratitude to sb ”上也可以看得出來， 但是幾乎不作動詞have的賓語，再者說，此時debt通常用作單數形式，不用復數形式debts。
