The cat hit my face對(duì)還是錯(cuò)？

最近，一位叫小林的廣州朋友給我寫信，請(qǐng)我回答她提出的若干英語問題。她提的問題很好，很有代表性，看得出她是一位認(rèn)真好學(xué)的英語老師。由于最近工作太忙，今天才抽出時(shí)間來回復(fù)她。先回答第一個(gè)問題，后面的問題，我將盡快在一兩天內(nèi)回答完畢。　　

【問】The cat hit my face. 這句話老外聽不懂，要用The cat hit me on my face.  一般涉及部位的要用hit sb on +身體部位。kiss是不是也是這種用法呢，但是我在權(quán)威詞典里有看過kiss her cheek. 也有kiss her on the cheek的用法。這種句子是不是體現(xiàn)了外國(guó)人的英文思維呢？　　

【答】對(duì)這個(gè)問題，我的理解是：The cat hit my face. “那只貓撞在了我的臉上。”我們知道，hit除了“打，擊，敲”的意思外，還有“撞上，碰撞”之意。前者往往指有意的“打，擊”，而后者則強(qiáng)調(diào)無意的“碰撞”。單就這個(gè)句子而言，“貓”的動(dòng)作顯然是后者。所以，我認(rèn)為這個(gè)句子沒有錯(cuò)誤。　　

英美人習(xí)慣上把一些動(dòng)詞用于此種固定結(jié)構(gòu)：“動(dòng)詞+sb.+介詞+the+某一部位”。在他們看來，動(dòng)作的接受主體應(yīng)該先是“人”，而“部位”僅是人體的一部分。所以應(yīng)該先說“人”，后說“部位”。　　

比較常見的這類動(dòng)詞有take, catch, hold, seize, pull, hit, cut, strike, pat, lead等；常用的介詞有in, on, by等。　　

一般說來表示“抓住、領(lǐng)著某一部位（如arm, hand）”，介詞用by；表示“擊中、拍打”較硬且突出的部位（如back, head）介詞用on；而相對(duì)較軟、陷入的部位（如stomach, face）介詞用in。例如：　　

The woman hit the man in the face and the man struck her on the back.　　

那個(gè)女的打了男的的臉。那個(gè)男的打了她的背。　　

The boss pulled the little boy by the hair and took him to the office.　　

老板拽著男孩的頭發(fā)，把他帶到了辦公室。　　

The police seized the thief by the arm and controlled him.　　

警察抓住了小偷的胳膊，把他制服了。　　

My teacher often pats me on the shoulder and encourages me to work hard.　　

老師經(jīng)常拍著我的肩膀鼓勵(lì)我努力學(xué)習(xí)。　　

【常見搭配】　　

take sb. by the arm 抓住某人的手臂         hit sb. on the head 打某人的頭　　

take sb. by the hand 抓住某人的手           hit sb. on the chin 打某人的下巴　　

take sb. by the throat 扼住某人的咽喉      pull sb. by the hand 拉某人的手　　

pat sb. on the shoulder 拍某人的肩           shake sb. by the hand 握某人的手　　

strike sb. in the face 打某人的臉              seize sb. by the sleeve 抓住某人的袖口　　

lead sb. by the hand 拉著某人的手領(lǐng)路     cut sb. in the hand 割了某人的手　　

【特別提示】　　

隨著社會(huì)的進(jìn)步，語言也在向著簡(jiǎn)潔的方向發(fā)展。在現(xiàn)代英語中，以下說法也是正確的：　　

hit / strike one’s face = hit / strike sb. in the face 擊中某人的面部　　

pat one’s shoulder = pat sb. on the shoulder 拍某人的肩膀　　

catch / seize / take one’s arm = catch sb. by the arm 抓住某人的胳膊　　

lead one’s hand=lead sb. by the hand 領(lǐng)著某人的手　　

最后，再回到網(wǎng)友這個(gè)問題：The cat hit my face. 這句話即使貓有意“打”、“擊”，后面的賓語可以直接是 my face。

關(guān)于 kiss her cheek 和 kiss her on the cheek，兩種說法都正確。此外，The cat hit me on my face. 這個(gè)句子本身有問題：要么說 hit my face，要么說 hit me in the face，在身體部位前應(yīng)加 the，而不是物主代詞。
