成對并列連詞的用法

1. 并列連詞both…and的用法

并列連詞both…and的意思是“不僅……而且”“……和……”。如：

He speaks both English and French. 他既說英語也說法語。

Both brother and sister are college students. 兄妹倆都是大學生。

He can both speak and write Japanese. 他既能說日語也能寫日語。

2. 并列連詞either…or的用法

并列連詞either…or 的意思是“要么……要么”“……或是……”。如：

He must be either mad or drunk. 他不是瘋了就是醉了。

Either you or I am wrong. 不是你錯了就是我錯了。

We can have either fish or beef. 我們可以吃魚或是牛肉。

You can go swimming or play tennis. 你可以去游泳也可以去打網球。

We can either fly there or go by train. 我們可以坐飛機去也可坐火車去。

3. 并列連詞neither...nor的用法

并列連詞neither...nor的意思是“既不……也不”。如：

He neither drinks nor smokes. 他既不喝酒，也不抽煙。

It’s neither too cold nor too hot. 天氣既不太冷也不太熱。

She felt neither frightened nor sorry. 她既不感到害怕也不感到遺憾。

Mary neither likes maths nor (likes) history. 瑪麗既不喜歡數學也不喜歡歷史。

Neither boys nor girls are interested in it. 男孩子和女孩子對此都不感興趣。

注：并列連詞neither…nor…若連接兩個句子，要用倒裝。如：

Neither does he smoke nor does he drink. 他既不抽煙也不喝酒。

4. 并列連詞not only...but also的用法

并列連詞 not only...but also 的意思是“不僅……而且”。如：

Not only men but also women were chosen. 不僅僅是男的，女的也有被選中的。

Not only men but also women were chosen. 選中的不僅有男的也有女的。

He not only read the book, but also remembered what he read. 他不僅讀過這本書，而且還記得書中的內容。

He not only does his work well, but is also ready to help others. 他不但自己干得好，而且還肯幫助別人。

Not only is he funny, but he is witty too [as well]. 他不但風趣，而且也很機智。

Not only you but also he has to attend the meeting. 不只是你，他也必須參加會議。

為了強調，可將not only置于句首，此時其后的句子通常要用部分倒裝的形式。如：

Not only has she been late three times; she has also done no work. 她不僅僅遲到了3次，她還沒干一點活。

Not only do they need clothing, but they are also short of water. 他們不但需要衣服，而且還缺水。
