“下雨”的主語是it還是the weather

漢語常說“天在下雨（雪）”，但是說成英語時，習慣上要用 it 作主語，而不能用 the weather 作主語。如：

明天會下雨嗎?

誤：Will the weather rain tomorrow?

正：Will it rain tomorrow?

更多實例：

It hasn’t rained for months.  已經幾個月沒下雨了。

I don’t think it’s going to rain.  我認為不會下雨。

She put up her hood when it started to rain.  下雨了，她把風帽拉了起來。

We ran for cover as it started to rain.  開始下雨時，我們跑著找地方避雨。

The sky looks very grey.  I think it’s going to rain.  天色看起來非常陰暗，我想快要下雨了。

但是，如果不是用動詞rain表示“下雨”，也可以有其他比較靈活的表達：

The sky was dull, with a foreboding of rain.  天空灰蒙蒙的，好像要下雨了。

The weather had been rainy for days, and the day of the race was no exception.  天一直下雨，比賽那天也不例外。
