describe的用法與搭配

表示“描述”，通常只用作及物動詞，用法注意：

1. 除接名詞作賓語外，還通常接 wh-從句。如：

Words can’t describe her beauty. 言語無法形容她的美麗。

It’s difficult to describe how I feel. 很難描述我的感受。

Please describe what you have seen. 請描述一下你看到的情況。

2. 其后不能接雙賓語，若語義需要，要用介詞to或for來引出間接賓語。如：

Can you describe it to [for] me? 你能把它描述給我聽嗎?

Can you describe your son to me? 你能向我描述一下你兒子嗎?

3. describe…as…的意思是“把……描述是……”“把……說成是……”，其中的as習(xí)慣上不宜換成to be。如：

She described him as shy. 她說他很害羞。

He describes himself as an artist. 他自稱是藝術(shù)家。

He was described as (being) very clever. 據(jù)說他很聰明。

4. 在現(xiàn)代英語中，其后可接動名詞。如：

These verbs describe holding things tightly. 這些動詞描述緊握某物。

He described finding his mother lying on the floor. 他描述說發(fā)現(xiàn)他母親躺在地板上。
