determine的用法與搭配

1. 表示“決心”“決定”，是及物動(dòng)詞，其后可接：

(1) 名詞或代詞。如：

We’ll have to determine a date for the meeting. 我們得確定會(huì)議日期。

The exam results could determine your career. 考試成績可能會(huì)決定你的前途。

(2) 不定式。如：

He determined to travel no further that night. 他決定那天晚上不再往前走了。

有時(shí)不定式前可用連接代詞（副詞）。如：

I haven’t determined what to do next. 下一步干什么我還沒決定。

其后不能直接跟動(dòng)名詞，但加了介詞on后則可以。如：

I determined on going abroad. 我決定出國。

determine on后還可接名詞。如：

I determined on an early start. 我決定早點(diǎn)出發(fā)。

(3) 不定式的復(fù)合結(jié)構(gòu)。如：

What determined her to marry him? 是什么使她下定決心要嫁給他?

使某人決定或下決心不做某事，可以用determine sb not to do sth，也可用determine sb against doing sth。如：

That determined her not to leave [against leaving\ home. 那件事使她決定不離開家了。

(4) 從句。如：

He determined that he would go at once. 他決定馬上就去。

We haven’t determined who will go with them. 我們還沒有作出決定讓誰同他們一起去。

后接that從句時(shí)，從句謂語可用陳述語氣或虛擬語氣，區(qū)別為：強(qiáng)調(diào)事實(shí)，用陳述語氣；強(qiáng)調(diào)愿望，用虛擬語氣。如：

She determined that she (should) never see him again. 她決心再也不要見他。

They determined that they will go there themselves. 他們決定親自去那里。

2. 用于 be determined+不定式或從句。如：(www.hz123456.com)

I am determined to go and nothing will stop me. 我已決定要去，什么也阻止不了我。

My mother is determined that I shall [should] marry the singer. 我母親決意要我嫁給這位歌手。

比較下面兩句在含義上的差別：

I have determined to go abroad. 我已決定出國。

I am determined to go abroad. 我已下定決心要出國。

在前一句里，determine 是界限動(dòng)詞，強(qiáng)調(diào)一時(shí)的動(dòng)作；在第二句里，determined 用作形容詞，說明的是一種狀態(tài)，即一種堅(jiān)定不移的決心。
