（三）表示坐落、位置等概念的一些動詞，其過去分詞也表示主動意思。例如：

You find most of the population settled in the south. (P 10, Unit 2, Book 5) 你發現大部分人口定居在南方。

Located near the river, the chemical factory is ready to pour waste water into it and has caused much pollution. 由于坐落在河的附近，化工廠隨時把廢水倒入其中，造成大量污染。

They found a small village situated in the center of the forest and looked like a leaf. 他們發現一個小村莊坐落在森林中央，像片樹葉一樣。

（四）表示“傾注、專心、集中、習慣”等含義的動詞，其被動語態或過去分詞，也有此種用法。例如：

The English professor was busied/occupied/employed/engaged in preparing his lecture. 英語教授忙于準備他的演講。

He was so absorbed in thought that he ran against a passerby. 他全神貫注地想心事，以至于和一個行人撞了個滿懷。

She is devoted to the cause of the people’s education. 她獻身于人民的教育事業。

Tom was lost in thought. 湯姆陷入了沉思。

They were deeply buried in his work. 他們埋頭工作。

We should be concerned about the growth of the young people. 我們應當關心年輕人的成長。

You will soon be used / accustomed to the climate here. 你不久就會習慣這里的氣候的。

The child was addicted to computer games. 這孩子沉迷于電腦有游戲。

（五）表示“裝飾、盛滿、裝備”等含義的動詞，也有此用法。例如：

This bottle is filled with milk. 這個瓶子盛滿了牛奶。

The room was crowded with people. 房間擠滿了人。

The meeting hall was decorated with fresh flowers. 會議大廳裝飾著鮮花。

That newly built plant is equipped with modern machines. 那家新建的工廠裝備著現代化機器。

（六）此外，下列情況也是“過去分詞不表示被動”：

1. 不及物動詞的過去分詞，由于該動詞不能帶賓語，所以其過去分詞通常不表示被動意義，而表示主動意義，當它們用在名詞前時尤其如此。如：

She teaches advanced students English. 她教高水平的學生英語。

The escaped prisoner has been captured. 逃犯已被抓獲。

The wind blew away the fallen leaves. 風把落葉刮走了。

The bear was a fully grown adult. 那只熊已完全發育成熟。

She is now a retired teacher. 她現在是一名退休教師。

2. 某些受副詞修飾的過去分詞也表示主動意義。如：

My teacher is a well-read person. 我的老師是一個博覽群書的人。

His friend was considered as a much-travelled man. 他的朋友被看作是一個周游各地的人。

They are recently-arrived immigrants. 他們是最近到達的移民。

Those badly faded curtains look very dirty. 那些退色嚴重的窗簾看起來很臟。
