escape的用法與語法

1. 用作名詞時，若指具體的一次逃脫，為可數名詞；若泛指一般意義的逃脫，則不可數。如：

The prisoners attempted an escape, but failed. 囚犯們試圖逃跑，但沒有成功。

We let the last chance of escape slip through our fingers. 我們錯過了最后一次逃走的機會。

2. 用作動詞時，下列情況通常是不及物用法，其后可接介詞 from：

(1) 表示從具體的某一地方逃出或逃掉。如：

A lion has escaped from its cage. 有一只獅子從籠子里逃走了。

There’s a lion which escaped from the zoo. 有一頭獅子從動物園逃跑了。

(2) 表示液體或氣體等漏出或泄漏。如：

Some gas is escaping from the pipe. 煤氣管在漏氣。

(3) 表示從監禁或管制等狀態中逃脫或逃走。如：

The boy longed to escape from his mother’s domination. 這男孩渴望擺脫母親的操縱。

3. 下列用法，通常是及物動詞，其后無需接介詞 from 或其他介詞：

(1) 表示被遺忘或未被注意等。如：

We escaped observation. 我們避開了人們的注意。

I’ve met her before, but her name escapes me. 我以前見過她，但她的名字我忘記了。

(2) 表示逃避或躲避不愉快的事（如傷害、處罰、不幸等）。如：

He tried to escape punishment. 他設法躲避懲罰。

He narrowly escaped a fine. 他差一點被罰款。

注意，逃避或躲避監禁或管制等不愉快的事，是及物動詞，其后無需用介詞；但若是指從監禁或管制等狀態中逃脫或逃走，則為不及物動詞，其后可接介詞（如from等）。比較：

He escaped prison. 他躲避了監禁（即本該入獄但逃避了）。

He escaped from prison. 他越獄了（即已經入獄但逃走了）。

4. 若后接動詞作賓語，習慣上接動名詞，而不接不定式。如：

There is no way to escape doing the work. 沒有辦法逃脫做這項工作。

If you commit a crime you can never escape being punished. 你要是犯罪，就逃脫不了要受懲罰。

注意，這樣用的escape為及物動詞，其后不能接介詞from，即不說escape from doing sth。

5. 用作不及物動詞時，除其后通常接介詞from外，還可根據語境的需要接其他介詞。如：

He escaped death by an inch. 他險些喪了命。

She escaped through a secret door. 她通過暗道逃走了。

He managed to escape to South America. 他成功地逃到南美洲。

He had escaped by bribing a guard. 他通過賄賂守衛逃跑了。

6. 其過去分詞可用作形容詞，但只用于名詞前作定語，不用作表語，其意為“逃跑了的”。如：

Police are hunting an escaped criminal. 警方正在追捕逃犯。

An escaped tiger is roaming free in the town. 有一只老虎跑出，正在城里東逃西竄。

7. 表示很險地逃過或差點沒逃掉，通常與副詞narrowly搭配。如：

He narrowly escaped being run over. 他差點兒被車壓死。

順便說一句，若是修飾名詞，則用形容詞narrow。如：

He had a narrow escape when his car skidded on the ice. 車在冰上打滑，他險些出事。

8. 有時可后接形容詞，表示逃脫后的狀態；這類形容詞通常是alive, unharmed, unhurt, uninjured, unscathed等。如：

Only two of the men escaped alive. 這些人當中只有兩人成功逃生。

You were fortunate to escape unharmed. 你真幸運，毫發未傷地逃出來了。

The driver of the car was killed in the crash but both passengers escaped unhurt. 事故中汽車司機喪生，但兩名乘客幸未受傷。
