used to的基本用法以及與would的區(qū)別

一、used to的基本用法

1. 其基本義為“過去常常”，注意以下用法：

(1) 一般不能與表示次數(shù)（如twice, three times等）或一段時(shí)間（如three months, five years等）的詞語連用，但可與always, often, sometimes, never等頻度副詞連用。如：

I never used to watch television. 我過去從不看電視。

He often used to work late in the evening. 他過去經(jīng)常工作到深夜。

這樣用時(shí)，頻度副詞通常置于used 之前，但有時(shí)也可置于used之后。如：

I always used [used always] to be afraid of dogs. 我過去總是怕狗。

(2) 構(gòu)成否定式和疑問式時(shí)有兩種形式：借助助動(dòng)詞did（較口語化）或直接將used用作助動(dòng)詞（較正式）。如：

He usedn’t [didn’t use] to come. 他過去不常來。

You used to go there, usedn’t [didn’t] you? 你過去常到那兒去，是嗎?

有時(shí)還可見到以下這種混合表達(dá)式，但不是很常用：

Did you use(d) to be a teacher? 你過去是當(dāng)老師的嗎?

There used to be some trees in this field, use(d) n’t [didn’t] there? 這一片地曾有些樹，是嗎?

They didn’t use(d) to live here. 他們過去沒住在這兒。

二、used to與would的區(qū)別

(1) 兩者均可表示過去習(xí)慣性的動(dòng)作，有時(shí)可互換。如：

When we were children we would [used to] go skating every winter. 我們小時(shí)候，每年冬天都去溜冰。

(2) 當(dāng)要表示過去持續(xù)的狀態(tài)或表示過去與現(xiàn)在的對(duì)比（即“以前這樣，但現(xiàn)在不這樣了”）時(shí)，則要用used to。如：

Sex is no longer the taboo subject it used to be. 現(xiàn)在不再像過去那樣把性的問題視為禁區(qū)。

Women used to think they were on the shelf at 30. 過去女人一到30歲就認(rèn)為是過了結(jié)婚年齡。

I used to cook on electricity, but I’ve switched to gas. 我過去用電煮飯，但現(xiàn)已換成用煤氣了。
