example與動(dòng)詞和介詞的五種搭配

1. 表示給某人舉例，一般用動(dòng)詞 give。如：

Here I give you some more examples. 這里我再給大家舉幾個(gè)例子。

表示“關(guān)于……的例子”，其后通常用介詞of。如：

Below is an example of a business letter. 下面是一封商業(yè)信函的例子。

This dictionary has many examples of how words are used. 這部詞典有許多說明詞語用法的實(shí)例。

2. 表示樹立榜樣，一般用 set。如：

I rely on you to set a good example. 我全靠你來樹立個(gè)好榜樣。

As a teacher, you should learn to set an example with your own conduct. 作為一名教師，你應(yīng)該學(xué)會(huì)以身作則。

若表示給某人樹立榜樣，其后可接雙賓語。如：

She has set us a good example. 她為我們樹立了好榜樣。

若雙賓語易位，通常用介詞to（有時(shí)也用介詞for）引出間接賓語。如：

You should set an example to [for] them.=You should set them an example. 你應(yīng)該給他們樹立一個(gè)榜樣。

3. 表示學(xué)習(xí)某人的榜樣或照某人的樣子，通常用動(dòng)詞 follow 或copy，不要按漢語習(xí)慣用動(dòng)詞learn或study。如：

He is a good example for us to follow. 他是我們學(xué)習(xí)的好榜樣。

I’ll show you how to hit the ball and then you must follow [copy] my example. 我先做給你看如何擊球，然后你必須照我的示范去做。

4. for example 意為“例如”，用作插入語，在句中位置比較靈活。如：

Great men have risen from poverty—Lincoln and Edison, for example. 大人物往往出身貧寒，例如林肯和愛迪生。

There are many big cities in Europe, for example, London, Paris and Rome. 歐洲有許多大城市，如倫敦、巴黎和羅馬。

用for example 舉例時(shí)，所舉之例通常是詞或短語，但有時(shí)也可以是句子。如：

Each situation is different. For example, a man with a rich wife doesn’t have to work. 情況各有不同，例如，娶了有錢妻子的男人就不必工作。

Many young people are taking radio courses in English. There is the boy next door, for example. 許多年輕人在學(xué)廣播英語課程，比如隔壁那個(gè)男孩就是。

5. 與動(dòng)詞take連用，表示“以……為例”，可以有多種搭配形式。如：

Take my case for an example. 以我的情況為例。

Take our factory as an example. The vice-manager was a worker. 就拿我們廠來說吧，副廠長曾是一名工人。

A lot of women manage to bring up families and go out to work at the same time—take Angela, for example. 很多女子既能料理家務(wù)同時(shí)又外出工作——譬如安杰拉，就是個(gè)例子。
