動詞miss的兩條重要用法

1. 表示錯過或避免做某事，其后習慣上接動名詞作賓語，不接不定式。如：

I just missed burning my hand. 我差點把手燙了。

He narrowly missed being seriously injured. 他差點受了重傷。

表示懷念做過的某事，其后習慣上也接動名詞作賓語，不接不定式。如：

I miss living in the country. 我懷念以前住在鄉村的日子。

I miss you bringing me cups of tea in the mornings! 我常懷念早晨你給我送茶的情景!

2. 表示“丟失”，通常用其現在分詞（轉化為形容詞）作表語或定語。如：

The book has two missing pages [two pages missing]. 這本書缺兩頁。

The child has been missing for a week. 這孩子下落不明已有一周了。

注意不能用過去分詞轉化來的形容詞，如：

誤The child has been missed for a week.
