understand 的常用句式搭配

1. 表示“明白”、“理解”，其后可接動名詞(可帶邏輯主語)，但通常不接不定式。如：

那樣對待孩子，我不能理解。

正：I can’t understand treating children like that.

誤：I can’t understand to treat children like that.

有時可接從句。比較：

你需要換一換環境，這一點我完全理解。

正：I quite understand that you need a change.

正：I quite understand your needing a change.

我不明白他為什么搶劫自己的朋友。

正：I can’t understand why he robbed his friend.

2. 表示“聽說”、“得知”、“推斷”等，可接不定式的復合結構或從句等。比較：

我聽說他在巴黎。

正：I understand him to be in Paris.

正：I understand that he is in Paris.

我認為他愿意來。

正：I understand him to say that he would come.

注：在簡略回答中可用 so 代替前面已出現的 that 從句。如：

A：They are going to get married. 他們要結婚了。

B: I understand so. / So I understand. 聽說如此。

3. 用于 make oneself understood, 意為“清楚地表達自己的意思”，注意這里必須用反身代詞，同時 understand 要用過去分詞形式，而不能用原形。如：

I can’t make myself understood in English. 我不能用英語表達自己的意思。
