can’t help后接不定式和動名詞的用法區別

can’t help后既可接不定式也可接動名詞，其區別是：

(1) 后接動名詞表示禁不住去做某事。如：

We can’t help thinking he’s still alive. 我們總是認為他還活著。

He couldn’t help smiling at her childlike frankness. 她天真坦白的話語，讓他不禁微笑了。

It was so funny that I couldn’t help laughing. 太有意思了，我忍不住笑了起來。

He could not help exclaiming at how much his son had grown. 他的兒子已長那么高了，他不禁驚叫起來。

Excuse me—I couldn’t help overhearing what you said. 對不起，我不由自主地聽見你們談的事情了。

(2) 接不定式表示不能幫助做某事。如：

I’m too busy, and I really can’t help to do it. 我很忙，我真的不能幫忙做此事。

The medicine can’t help to get rid of your cold. 這藥不能幫你消除感冒。

This ointment might help to clean up your rash. 這種藥膏也許能消除你的皮疹。
