impossible與possible用法比較

1. 在其系表結構后接不定式時，句子主語只能是形式主語it, 而不能是指人或指物的名詞或代詞等。如：

我們可能(不可能) 會贏得這場比賽。

正：It is possible (impossible) for us to win the match.

誤：We are possible (impossible) to win the match.

若其后不定式與句子主語有動賓關系，則 impossible 則可以不用形式主語 it 而用名詞作主語，但possible不能（或很少）這樣用。如：

正：The match is impossible for us to win.

誤：The match is possible for us to win.

2. 若 be possible (impossible) 后不接不定式或從句，則完全可以用“物”作主語。如：

Snow is possible, though not probable. 下雪是可能的，雖然不是很可能。

What he says is impossible. 他所說的是不可能的。

3. It’s impossible that 從句中，從句通常要用虛擬語氣，即從句謂語用“（should+）動詞原形”；It’s possible that 從句中，從句謂語要用陳述語氣。如：

It’s possible that he hasn’t received the letter. 可能他還沒收到那封信呢。

It is impossible that he (should) forget our meeting; he must have stayed away on purpose. 他不可能忘記我們的會議，他準是故意不來。
