nature與natural用法歸納

一、nature的用法

1. 表示“(大）自然”“自然界”等，是不可數(shù)名詞，有時(shí)大寫第一個(gè)字母。如：

Isn’t Nature wonderful? 大千世界不奇妙嗎?

Nature is at its best in spring. 春天萬(wàn)物欣欣向榮。

He enjoys the beauties of nature. 他喜歡自然界的美景。

2. 表示“天性”“本性”“性格”等，通常為不可數(shù)名詞；偶爾用作可數(shù)名詞，主要指種類。如：

He is generous by nature. /He has a generous nature. 他生性慷慨。

Cats and dogs have quite different natures. 貓和狗有著很不相同的天性。

It’s against nature for a mother to hurt her child. 母親傷害自己的孩子是違背人性的。

3. 比較 by nature 與 in nature：前者指“天生地”，后者指“性質(zhì)上”“本質(zhì)上”。如：

She is proud by nature. 她生性傲慢。

He is the most hypocritical fellow in nature. 他是世界上最虛偽的家伙。

in nature有時(shí)還可表示“究竟”“到底”，主要用于疑問(wèn)詞之后。如：

What in nature do you mean? 你到底是什么意思?

二、natural的用法

1. 表示“自然的”，it’s natural 后接主語(yǔ)從句時(shí)，從句謂語(yǔ)通常要用虛擬語(yǔ)氣（should+動(dòng)詞原形），此時(shí)也可用不定式復(fù)合結(jié)構(gòu)轉(zhuǎn)換。如：

他這樣說(shuō)是很自然的。

正：It’s natural that he (should) say so.

正：It’s natural for him to say so.

孩子愛母親，這是人之常情。

正：It is natural that a child (should) love its mother.

正：It is natural for a child to love its mother.

2. 表示“天生的”“與生俱來(lái)的”，常與介詞to連用。如：

Fighting is natural to dogs. 狗天生喜歡打架。

Speaking comes natural to him. 他天生善于演講。
