2. in that case還是in which case

假若必須在in that case和in which case之間作出選擇，判斷方法如下：如果是并列句（兩句之間必須有并列連詞），用in that case；如果是含有定語從句的復合句（兩句之間不能有并列連詞），則用in which case。例如以下各例均為含有非限制性定語從句的復合句，因為兩個主謂結(jié)構(gòu)之間沒有并列連詞：

Of course it may rain, in which case we'll have to hold the ceremony indoors. 當然可能會下雨，如果那樣的話，我們就只能在室內(nèi)舉行儀式了。

She may have missed the train, in which case she won’t arrive for another hour. 她可能沒趕上火車，要是那樣的話，她可能還等一個小時才會到。

He won’t want to eat it unless he’s really hungry, in which case he’ll eat almost anything. 除非很餓，否則他不會吃東西，一旦餓了，他幾乎什么都吃。

說明：若以上各句的逗號后加上并列連詞and，那么in which case就應改為in that case。

與此類問題相似的還有at that time與at which time, at that point與at which point, by that time與by which time, for that work與for which work等，道理是一樣的。例如以下各例均為含有非限制性定語從句的復合句，因為兩個主謂結(jié)構(gòu)之間沒有并列連詞：

The film started to get very violent, at which point I left. 那部電影看著看著出現(xiàn)了極殘暴的場面，我立刻就走了。

The postman comes at 6:30 in the morning, at which time (=when) I am usually fast asleep. 郵遞員早晨6點30分來, 這個時候我通常還睡著大覺呢。

說明：若以上各句的逗號后加上并列連詞and，那么其中的which就應改為that。
