英語定冠詞的特指用法

(1) 特指前面已提到的人或物：

Look! A car has stopped there. The car is beautiful. 瞧，有輛小汽車在那兒停下了。那輛汽車可真漂亮。

(2) 特指說話雙方都知道或能體會到的人或物：

Why not ask the teacher? 為什么不問問老師?

Pass me the dictionary, please. 請把詞典遞給我。

(3) 用于帶后置定語的名詞前，表示特定的人或物：

I like the magazine on the desk. 我喜歡桌上的那本雜志。

The supper her mother cooked was delicious. 她媽媽做的晚餐味道很好。

(4) 用于比較級前，特指兩個被比較對象中的一個：

Of the two brothers, the younger is more interesting. 在這兩兄弟中，年輕的這個更有趣。

(5) 用于加強特指含義，意為“正好是”、“剛好是”等(此時的定冠詞需重讀)：

This is the word to be used here. 這是用在這里最恰當的字眼。

He is the man for the job. 他是最適合做這項工作的人。
