sometime, some time, sometimes的區別

(1) sometime意為“某個時候”，可用于過去或將來：

I must go shopping sometime this morning. 今天上午我必須找時間去買東西。

Let’s have dinner together sometime next week. 下星期找個時間咱們一塊吃頓飯吧。

Hopefully, I’ll see you sometime tomorrow.= I hope I’ll see you sometime tomorrow. 我希望明天什么時候能見到你。

【注】這樣用的 sometime 也可寫成 some time (即分開寫)。

You really must come and see us some time. 你什么時候務必來看看我們呀。

(2) some time 作為副詞詞組，意為“任何時候”或“某個時候”(= sometime)；作為名詞詞組，意為“一段時間”(不能寫成 sometime)：

Give me some time to consider. 給我點時間仔細考慮。

I spent some time trying to convince her. 我花了不少時間試圖說服她。

The medicine took some time to kick in. 這種藥需要一些時間才能生效。

For some time people had been muttering about the way she ran the department. 人們對她的管理方式私下抱怨已有時日。

(3) sometimes 意為“有時”：

Dogs sometimes produce five or six young at a birth. 狗有時一胎生五六只小狗。

The boss sometimes turns a blind eye to smoking in the office. 老板有時對在辦公室抽煙假裝沒看見。

In summer, the temperature is sometimes forty degrees centigrade. 夏天，溫度有時達40攝氏度。

Sometimes we’re busy and sometimes we’re not so busy. It all depends. 有時我們很忙，有時我們不太忙，這要看情況。

Sometimes emotional problems might lead to serious results. 有時候情緒問題會導致嚴重的結果。
