你知道“the＋形容詞”的用法嗎

請看：

a. The wounded ________ to the hospital.

b. The beautiful ________ for ever.

A. was，lives            B. were，live            C. was，live             D. were，lives

此題應選D，主要考查“the＋形容詞”結構。用法注意：

1. 表示性質或特征相同的人，具有復數意義：

The rich are not always happier than the poor. 富人并不一定總比窮人幸福。

類例：

the deaf 聾人                    the dead 死者                   the blind 盲人

the young 年輕人              the weak 弱者                  the old 老人

the strong 強者                 the sick 病人                    the wounded 傷員

the killed 被殺者               the injured 受傷者             the living 活著的人

the unemployed 失業者     the oppressed 被壓迫者     the oppressing 壓迫者

2. 指抽象概念，表示單數意義：

The true always triumphs. 真理永遠獲勝。

類例：

the good 善良                     the right 正義                  the true 真實

the bad 壞事                        the humorous 幽默感 等

有時可能根據其含義的不同，用法也會有所變化。如the good 既可表示抽象意義(=what is good)，具有單數意義，也可表示人的類別(=those who are good)，具有復數意義。

又如以下兩例中的the old：

The old are respected in our country. 在我國老年人受到尊重。

The new is sure to replace the old. 新的東西肯定會代替舊的東西。
