have no intention 之后不可以接to do sth.嗎？

【問】[468]在《成人學士學位英語考試綱要》(修訂本，江蘇省學位委員會編著，南京大學出版社, 2005年2月）p.331上，有以下一選擇題：Though he claimed time and again that he had no intention to harm the girl, it does not alter the fact that he was the man ________ for the death of her.

A. accounting  B. guilty  C. responsible   D. obliged  答案：C

另外，在《英語慣用法大詞典》(王福禎等主編)p.328上，也有一例：I have no intention to force anyone to do anything. 請問have no intention 后可以跟to do sth.嗎？

【答】按照英語的表達習慣，have no intention 后不可跟to do sth.，而要用of doing sth.。

■筆者認為以上說法偏頗，是不符合英語實際的。盡管中外很多有影響的工具書，如《牛津高階英漢雙解詞典》(第四版)(商務印書館1997年9月第1版) p778；《牛津高階英漢雙解詞典》(第六版)(商務印書館 2004年 8月第2版)p920;《朗文當代英漢雙解詞典》(First published 1988)p745；《朗文當代高級英語辭典》(英英•英漢雙解)(外語教學與研究出版社2004年7月第1版) p1022；John Sinclair主編《柯林斯COBUILD英語詞典》(上海外語教育出版社 2000年10月第1版) p879；簡清國主編《建宏外研社英漢多功能詞典》(外語與教學研究出版社1997年1月第1版)p786；葛傳槼主編的《新英漢詞典》(上海譯文出版社2000年12月第1版)p672；張道真編著的《現代英語用法詞典》(外語教學與研究出版社1994年10月第1版)p722；陸谷孫主編《英漢大詞典》(第2版) (上海譯文出版社2007年3月第1版)p987均未有have no intention 后跟to do sth.的說法和例證，然而事實勝于雄辯。

實際上，美國人早在1925年就已經使用have no intention 后跟to do sth.，并且一直在使用。請看真實的例證：

1. 在TIME CORPUS OF AMERICAN ENGLISH (1923-2006) (Mark Davies, Brigham Young University ) (http://corpus.byu.edu/time)至少有8例“have no intention to do sth.”：

1925/01/05 The Government has no intention to seek outside foreign sources for a loan. 政府不愿向國外貸款。

1999/02/22 We have no intention to try and re-create the divine miracle that happened to Jesus, ... 我們不打算試圖重新創造發生在耶穌身上的神圣奇跡, ...

2. 在BUY CORPUS OF AMERICAN ENGLISH (1990-2008) (Mark Davies, Brigham Young University) http://www.americancorpus.org/至少有42例“have no intention to do sth.”：

1990 …, so this is the proof that we have no intention to develop any nuclear bomb. ……，因此這就是我們不打算發展原子彈的證據。

2006 I think this clearly shows that Iran has no intention to stop its nuclear weapons program.我認為這清楚地表明伊朗無意停止其核武器計劃。

2007 I have no intention to do that.我無意這樣做。

2008 Well, what I was saying before the invasion of Iraq and other people like General Zinni was that the people who were bringing us into Iraq had no intention to leave. 

而英國人至少在1757年開始使用have no intention 后接to do sth.，他們在1980-1993期間仍然使用。請看例證：

1. 在BYU: THE OXFORD ENGLISH DICTIONARY(http://corpus.byu/oed/) 有3例“have no intention to do sth.”：

1757 This is his undoubted privilege; and I have no intention to break in upon it. 這是他不容置疑的特權，我無意打破它。

2. 在BUY-BNC BRTISH NATIONAL CORPUS (UK,1980s-1993) (Mark Davies, Brigham Young University ) http://corpus.byu.edu/bnc/和BNC(英國國家語料庫http://www.natcorp.ox.ac.uk) 至少有11例“have no intention to do sth.”：

We have no intention to emigrate so far as present plans are concerned. 就現在的計劃而言，我們不打算移居。

A finding of unlawful discrimination may be made even though the employer has no intention to discriminate. 即使雇主無意歧視，也可以找到非法的歧視。

另外，在中國人編著的詞典中也有have no intention 后跟to do sth.的例證，除了上面提到的王福禎主編的《英語慣用法大詞典》(北京科學技術出版社1994年8月第1版)p328之外，在張柏然主編的《新時代英漢大詞典》(商務印書館2004年4月第1版)p1234也有have no intention 后跟to do sth.的例證:

We have no intention to abrogate our abligation.

在liongoes( http://www.lingoes.cn) 之“句酷雙語例句” 上有18例“have no intention to do sth.”：

China does not pose any threat to any country, and has no intention to oppose any country. 中國不對任何國家造成威脅，也無意同任何國家對抗。

Their pursuit was blocked by Sonny's car and body in the tollgate slot but when Sonny's bodyguards pulled up a few minutes later and saw his body lying there, they had no intention to pursue. 而從后面追逐兇手的人給擋住了去路：桑兒的汽車和他的尸體堵住了收費站小屋前狹窄的通道。 幾分鐘之后，桑兒的保鏢趕到現場，發現桑兒的尸體躺在那兒，卻無意去追趕兇手。

 以上實例證明 have no intention 之后完全可以跟to do sth.。
