由“名詞(代詞)+現在分詞”構成的獨立主格

獨立主格由“名詞或代詞+形容詞、副詞、分詞不、不定式等”  構成，其中的“名詞或代詞”用主格形式，起邏輯主語的作用，其后的“形容詞、副詞、分詞不、不定式等”起邏輯謂語的作用。注意，獨立主格結構與主句之間不能使用任何連接詞。本文主要介紹“名詞或代詞+現在分詞”的用法。

The children playing in the room, I couldn’t get down studying. 孩子們在屋里玩，我沒法學習。

Mothing being ill, I had to stay at home looking after her. 母親病了，我只好呆在家里照顧她。

There being no bus, we had to walk home. 由于沒有公共汽車，我們只好走回家。

Night enshrouding the earth, nobody could make out what the dark mass was from a distance．黑夜籠罩大地，誰也看不清遠處黑壓壓的一片是什么東西。
