什么叫個體名詞、物質(zhì)名詞、抽象名詞

■個體名詞

所謂個體名詞就是指表示人或物的個體的名詞。如boy, girl, tree, book, cup, desk等。在通情況下，個體名詞都是可數(shù)的。如：

There is a book on the desk. 書桌上有一本書。

We have two children, a boy and a girl. 我們有兩個孩子，一個男孩和一個女孩。

■物質(zhì)名詞

物質(zhì)名詞指的是無法分為個體的事物，如air, sand, meat, wine, paper, ink, gas, water, wood等。在通常情況下，物質(zhì)名詞是不可數(shù)的。如：

Air and water are necessary to life. 空氣和水是生命所必需的。

Most of us probably eat too much meat. 我們大多數(shù)人都吃太多的肉了。

■叫抽象名詞

抽象名詞用于表示性質(zhì)、行為、狀態(tài)、感情等抽象概念，如age, money, failure, work, music, courage, joy等。抽象名詞絕大多數(shù)是不可數(shù)的。如：

Money isn’t everything. 金錢不是一切。

Failure is the mother of success. 失敗是成功之母。

Loud music drives me crazy. 喧鬧的音樂吵得我要命。

We jumped with joy to hear the news. 聽到這消息我們高興得跳了起來。
