college 的意思與用法

1. college 主要有兩個(gè)意思：一是指高等�？茖W(xué)�；颍í�(dú)立的）學(xué)院，二是指綜合性大學(xué)內(nèi)部的學(xué)院。如：

She goes to the Teachers’ College. 她上師范學(xué)院。

There are many colleges at Harvard and Yale. 在哈佛和耶魯大學(xué)有許多學(xué)院。

2. 在日常生活用語(yǔ)中，college 可用來(lái)泛指“大學(xué)”，此時(shí)其前通常不用冠詞，指大學(xué)生活或大學(xué)期間。如：

I met him when I was at college. 我在大學(xué)時(shí)認(rèn)識(shí)他的。

While at college, Delia wrote a novel. 上大學(xué)時(shí)，迪莉婭寫了一部小說(shuō)。

It quite out of the ordinary for a woman to go to college. 那時(shí)女人上大學(xué)是很不尋常的。

但是，若是指具體地指某所大學(xué)（即將其視為一個(gè)地點(diǎn)），則可連用冠詞或其他限定詞。如：

The college is taking on more staff. 這所大學(xué)將雇傭更多教學(xué)人員。

I went to the college to see Professor Taylor. 我到學(xué)院去找泰勒教授。

It’s only twenty minutes’ drive to our college. 到我們大學(xué)開(kāi)車去只需20分鐘。

比較：

I met her at college. 我上大學(xué)的時(shí)候認(rèn)識(shí)她的。

I’ll meet you at the college. 我到學(xué)院來(lái)和你見(jiàn)面吧。
