接不定式和動名詞且含義相同的動詞

這類動詞常見有like(喜歡)，love(喜歡)，hate(憎恨)，prefer(寧可)，begin(開始)，start(開始)，continue(繼續)，can’t bear(不能忍受)，bother(麻煩)，intend(想要)，attempt(試圖)，cease(停止)等。如：

He likes to sing [singing]. 他喜歡唱歌。

It has started to rain [raining]. 開始下雨了。

You needn’t bother to come up [coming up]. 你不必費心來了。

The baby continued to cry [crying] all night. 這孩子哭了一整夜。

【幾點注意】

(1) 當 like, love, hate, prefer 與 would, should 連用時，其后只能接不定式：

I’d like to tell you something. 我想告訴你一些情況。

I’d love to have my own room / a room of my own. 我喜歡有一個自己的房間。

I’d hate to spend Christmas alone. 我不喜歡一個人過圣誕節。

I’d prefer to go in August rather than in July. 我愿8月去，不愿7月去。

(2) 當 begin, start 本身為進行時態（或ing形式）或后接 know, realize, understand 等靜態動詞時，其后的動詞只能用不定式：

He was beginning to recover when he had another attack. 他正在開始恢復時，突然病又發作了。

Your inefficiency, which we have put up with far too long, is beginning to annoy our customers. 我們對你的不稱職容忍得太久，而顧客也開始對此感到不滿意了。

It’s too late to go out now. Besides, it’s starting to rain. 現在出去，太晚了。況且也開始下雨了。

Always look in the mirror before starting to drive. 一定要先看看反光鏡再開車。

He started to realize that he was wrong. 他開始意識到自己錯了。
