表示“若不是”的虛擬語氣句型

英語中有幾個表示“若不是”“要不是”的固定表達，它們總是用于引出虛擬條件，句子謂語總是用虛擬語氣。這幾個句型是：

1. but for

它的意思是“要不是有……”“若不是因為……”，習(xí)慣上與虛擬語氣連用。如：

The car broke down. But for that we would have been in time. 汽車出毛病了。要不是那個我們會及時趕到的。

But for the storm, I would have been home before eight. 要不是因為這場風(fēng)暴，我早在8點鐘以前就回到家里了。

2. if it were not for

主要用于談?wù)摤F(xiàn)在的情況，意思也是“要不是有……”“若不是因為……”，相應(yīng)的主句總是用虛擬語氣。如：

If it weren’t for your help, I would still be homeless. 若非你的幫助，我仍會無家可歸。

If it were not for your quick play, our team would not win. 若沒有你敏捷的技巧，我們球隊是不會贏的。

3. if it had not been for

主要用于談?wù)撨^去的情況，意思也是“要不是有……”“若不是因為……”，相應(yīng)的主句總是用虛擬語氣。如：

You wouldn’t have seen her if it hadn’t been for him. 如果不是因為他，你就不會見到她了。

If it hadn’t been for the doctor’s care, I wouldn’t have recovered so soon. 要不是醫(yī)生的照顧，我不會痊愈得這么快。

說明：介詞without有時也可表示虛擬條件，意為“若不是”“要不是”，與but for用法相同。如：

Without [=But for] your help, I would have failed. 要不是有你的幫助，我就會失敗了。

但是，without也可以不表示條件，只表示“沒有”的意思。如：

Without a word he left the room. 沒有說一句話他離開了房間。
