4. 用于虛擬語氣:在虛擬條件句中,當談論過去的情況時,其句型通常是:主句用“could / would / should /might +have+過去分詞”,從句用過去完成時。如: If the weather hadn’t been so bad, we might have gone out. 如果天氣不是那么壞,我們可能都出去了。 If we had found him earlier we might have saved his life. 要是我們那時早點找到他的話,我們可能會把他救活的。 四、關于it may be that…結構 相當于It is possible that…或possibly / perhaps。如: It may be that we’ll find him at the hotel. 也許我們會在旅館里找到他。 Ask him again. It may be that he’ll change his mind. 再請他一次,也許他會改變主意。 五、連用 well和as well 1. may well:主要用于加強推測的語氣,表示具有較大的可能性。如: He may well refuse. 他很可能會拒絕。 It may well be true. 那很可能是真的。 其中的may也可換成might,但語氣更不確定。如: We might well get injured. 我們很可能受傷。 2. may as well:其意為“不妨”“還是……為好”等。如: You may as well ask him. 你不妨問問他。 It’s not very far, so we may as well go on foot. 那地方不太遠,所以我們還是走著去吧。 其中的may也可換成might,但語氣更不確定。如: You might as well stay with us. 你不妨和我們一道住。 另外,有時還可在as well前加上一個副詞just。如: This holiday isn’t much fun. We might just as well be back home. 這個假日過得很乏味,還不如回家去。 |
