基數詞用復數的常見情形

基數詞用復數形式的情況并不多見，主要有以下情況：

1. 表示某基數詞有多個。如：

Two twos are four. 二二得四。

Four threes are twelve. 四乘三等于十二。

2. 表示指一群一群的人或一批一批的事物。如：

The guests left in ones and twos. 客人三三兩兩地離開了。

Applications for the job are coming in slowly in [by] twos and threes. 申請這份工作的信件三三兩兩來得很慢。

3. 用于某些習語，如at sixes and sevens（亂七八糟，七上八下）等。如：

I haven’t had time to arrange everything so I’m all at sixes and sevens. 我沒來得及把每件事都安排好，因此心里七上八下的。

4. 逢整“十”的基數詞也可以用于復數形式，表示某人的大約年歲和世紀中的年代。如：

The war broke out in the nineties. 這次戰爭爆發于90年代。
