possible與probable

1. possible 表示“可能的”，probable 表示“很可能的”，后者比前者表示的可能性更大。如：

Success is possible, but hardly probable. 成功是可能的，但把握不是很大。

It’s possible but not probable that I shall go tomorrow. 明天我可能去，但不能肯定。

2. 兩者均可后接 that 從句，但 possible 可以后接不定式，而probable 之后一般不接不定式。如：

正：It is possible (probable) that they will win. 他們可能(很可能)會(huì)贏。

正：It is possible (probable) that it will happen. 這很可能(很可能)會(huì)發(fā)生。

正：It is possible for them to win. 他們可能會(huì)贏。

正：It is possible to happen. 這可能會(huì)發(fā)生。

誤：It is probable for them to win.

誤：It is probable to happen.
