▲add (…) to 增加，給……增加（添加）　　

This adds to our difficulties. 這增加了我們的困難。　　

He added the wood to the fire. 他給火添加木柴。　　

It adds to my pleasure to see you here today. 今天在這里見到你我格外高興。　　

▲admit to 承認　　

He admitted to the murder. 他供認了謀殺罪。　　

He admitted to having taken the money. 他承認拿了那筆錢。　　

【注】有時可省略其中的介詞 to。如：　　

He admitted (to) opening my letter. 他承認拆過我的信。　　

▲agree to 同意　　

He agreed to the plan (the date). 他同意了這個計劃（日期）。　　

We agreed to their arrangement. 我們同意了他們的安排。　　

I was forced to agree to it, but at heart I didn’t quite agree with it. 我被迫答應，但內心并不完全同意。　　

▲amount to 等于，共計，共達　　

The cost amounted to $500. 費用共達500美元。　　

His remarks amounted to criticism of me. 他的話等于是批評我。　　

This amounts to cheating her. 這等于是欺騙她。　　

▲apologize to 向……道歉　　

Apologize to your sister. 去給你姐姐賠個不是。　　

I’ve come to apologize to you. 我來向你道歉。　　

▲apply to 向……申請（請求）；適合于；運用到　　

He applied to them for help. 他向他們求助。　　

What you said doesn’t apply to me. 你說的不適合我。　　

You can’t apply this rule to every case. 你不能將這條規則運用到所有的情況。

▲owe … to 把……歸（功）于；欠
