suggest類虛擬語氣

suggest的用法與動詞insist相似，后接賓語從句時，有時用陳述語氣，有時用虛擬語氣。具體用法如下：

1. suggest表示提出建議

若suggest表示“建議”，后接從句所表示的內(nèi)容為建議要做的事情，也就是說從句所描述的內(nèi)容尚未成為事實，此時從句謂語要用虛擬語氣，即謂語采用“should+動詞原形”，其中的should在美國英語中通常被省略。如：

I suggest that we (should) have lunch now. 我建議我們現(xiàn)在吃午飯。

He suggested that she (should) come another day. 他建議她改天再來。

2. suggest表示陳述事實

若賓語從句的內(nèi)容表示的是已經(jīng)存在的真實情況，則用陳述語氣，此是suggest的意思是“暗示”“表明”“指出”“提出(看法)”等。如：

His smile suggested that he was satisfied. 他的微笑表明他是滿意的。

I’m not suggesting that the accident was your fault. 我并不是說這個事故是你的錯。

Others suggest that they two will be equals. 其他人認(rèn)為他們倆將是勢均力敵。

注意，除suggest外，advise, propose等在表示“建議”時，若后接賓語從句，從句也應(yīng)使用“should+動詞原形”這樣的虛擬語氣，其中的should在美國英語中通常被省略。如：

He advised that I (should) write her a letter. 他建議我給她寫封信。

The doctor advised that he (should) change his job. 醫(yī)生建議他改換工作。

I propose that they should stay here. 我建議他們留在這里。
