基數詞用復數的三種情況

▲將數詞當作名詞看待，當表示多個某一數字時，基數詞可用復數形式。如：

Four twos make eight. 4乘以2等于8。

▲某些慣用表達中，基數詞習慣上用復數形式，如on all fours（在地上爬），in twos and threes（三三兩兩），at sixes and sevens（亂七八糟）等。如：

She crawled on all fours over to the window. 她爬到窗邊。

Applications for the job are coming in slowly in twos and threes. 申請這份工作的信件三三兩兩來得很慢。

▲逢整“十”的基數詞若用復數形式，可以表示某人的大約年歲和世紀中的年代。如：

Long hair for men came in in the sixties. 男子留長發在20世紀60年代很流行。

he was in and out of jail for most of his twenties. 他二十幾歲時幾乎一直頻繁進出監獄。

注：若表示“十幾歲”，則用teens。如：

His parents divorced during his teens. 他父母在他十幾歲時離婚了。
