dare的五大用法

1. 用作實義動詞

其意為“敢于”，可以有各種詞形變化，可用于各類句型(肯定句、否定句、疑問句等)。如：

Do you dare to tell him? 你敢告訴他嗎?

He doesn’t dare to interrupt. 他不敢插嘴。

Who dares stopme? 誰敢阻攔我?

We must dare to think, speak and act. 我們必須敢想、敢說、敢做。

2. 用作情態動詞

其意思為“敢”，后接動詞原形，通常只用于否定句或疑問句以及if或whether之后，一般不用于肯定句。如：

She daren’t come to see you. 她不敢來見你。

Dare you say that to the boss? 你敢向上司說這種話嗎?

I don’t know whether he dare try. 我不知他是否敢試一試。

3. 混合用法

有時dare的實義動詞用法和情態動詞用法會混在一起，出現一些混合結構，這種用法尤其出現在否定句和疑問句中。如：

Did he dare tell her? 他敢告訴她嗎?

He didn’t dare open his eyes. 他不敢把眼睛睜開。

第一句由于在句首使用了助動詞did，說明句中的dare為實義動詞，那么后面接另一動詞時就應用帶to不定式，所以它的“正確”表達應是：Did he dare to tell her?

第二句由于在dare前使用了助動詞didn’t，說明其中的dare為實義動詞，所以當后接另一動詞時應該用帶to不定式，所以這一句的“正確”表達應是：He didn’t dare to open his eyes.

這樣的用法盡管我們閱讀中可能會遇到，但最好不要模仿，因為如果考試中用它有可能會被判定為錯誤噢！

4. I dare say

前面我們講過，dare用作情態動詞通常不用于肯定句，但是I dare say是個例外，并且它已成為一個習慣說法，用于表示一種不肯定的語氣，它的意思是“很可能”“大概”“我想”等。如：

I dare say he will come. 我猜他會來。

You’re tired, I dare say. 我看你是累了。

I dare say it’ll rain soon. 我看很快要下雨了。

有趣的是，dare say有時還可合成一個單詞，即說成I daresay。如：

I daresay you’re right. 我想你是對的。

I daresay there’ll be a restaurant car on the train. 我想這火車上會有餐車。

5. dare的過去式問題

情態動詞dare可以有過去式dared。如：

No one dared speak of it. 沒有人敢談及此事。

He dared not go there at night. 晚上他不敢到那里去。

That was why he dared do so. 那就是他為什么敢這樣做的原因。

但有趣的是，dare的過去式也可與原形一樣，不作任何變化。如：

Mother dare(d) not tell father she’d given away his old jacket. 母親不敢告訴父親她把他的舊上衣送人了。

The king was so hot-tempered that no one dare(d) tell him the bad news. 國王脾氣壞，沒有人敢對他講這壞消息。
