must與have to的用法說明

(1) must表示主觀義務，意思是“應該，必須”，其否定式mustn’t意為“不應該，不準”。如：

We must get there before five o’clock. 我們必須在五點鐘前趕到那兒。

You mustn’t break the rules. 你不要破壞規定。

對用must所提問題的否定回答，常用needn’t或don’t have to，意思為：不必。如：

Must I stay here after school? 放學后我還得留在這兒嗎？

No, you needn’t / don’t have to. 不了，沒有必要。

2. must表示推測，意思為：一定，必定(只用于肯定句中) 。如：

He must be our headmaster. 他肯定是我們的校長(from www.hz123456.com)。

He must have seen the film last night. 他昨天晚上肯定看了那場電影。

3. have to表示客觀要求，意思為：不得不；必須；除此之外，別無選擇。如：

Now there’s no bus here, so we had to walk home. 現在這里沒有汽車了，我們只好走路回家了。

We have no food home, you have to go and get some, Tom. 家里沒有食物了，湯姆你得去買一些來。

4. have to可以用于多種時態；而must只用于一般現在或將來。如：

The composition is due to hand in this morning, so I had to finish it last night. 作文今天早晨到期，因此我不得不昨天晚上完成。
